Prolonged heavy monsoon rains and rivers overflowing have caused devastating floods in the North-Eastern areas of Bangladesh, causing loss of lives, widespread destruction to property, crops and livestock and the displacement of millions. People have been left stranded without essentials such as shelter, food, clean water and electricity.
