Who are we?

Zam Zam Charitable Trust (“Zam Zam”) is a registered charity in England and Wales (number 1132716) and we work in Bangladesh through donations to Zam Zam Bangladesh (NGO registration number 2009). Our registered address is 1 Lianne Grove, London SE9 4AD. This policy relates to personal data which is obtained by Zam Zam as a data controller.

How we collect and use personal data

We collect your personal data when you contact us by email, post, telephone or through our website or when you make a donation directly or through a fundraising websit.

We hold and process your data to keep a record of donations made and issue receipts; to claim gift aid; to set up direct debits; and to send you details of our projects and events where you have consented to receive marketing information.

If you are a volunteer, trustee or other office holder or apply to become one of these, we will collect personal data about you when you contact us and as part of your appointment process and engagement. We will use this information to run background checks, including writing to previous organisation you have worked for or volunteered with or were associated with; to pay any expenses due to you; and to communicate with you about your activities with us.

To protect our charitable interests and comply with our obligations as a responsible institution, we will use your personal data to run background checks on public
information sources, such as national and local press, the Charities Commission, Companies House and social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn.

If you have provided us with consent to use your details for marketing purposes, we may contact you about our projects, fundraising activities and appeals, and other
ways to support us.

If you are an organization, you must ensure that you have the consent of any individual whose personal data you pass to us.

Your Rights

You can stop or change how we communicate with you.

You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to request a copy of that information.

You have the right to request that a copy of your personal data that we hold is transferred directly to another organisation.

You have the right to request that your personal data that we hold is erased.

If you believe your personal data that we hold is inaccurate, you have the right to request that it is corrected or updated.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We will keep your information on our systems for as long as necessary for the activity, for example where donations are subject to gift aid, for at least 7 years to comply with HMRC rules.

Who do we share your personal data with?

We share your personal data with third parties (e.g. a payment services provider) when that is required to process your donation; with service providers for marketing purposes (if you have consented to marketing); or as required by law (e.g. HMRC). We do not allow third party organizations to use your data for their own purposes and take care to ensure that they keep your data secure and delete it when it is no longer needed.

How do we protect your personal data?

We apply security measures to keep your data safe (e.g. by only allowing access to it by appropriate people and using password protection).

We keep this privacy statement under regular review and we will place any updates on this web page.
